    Remaining 2014 FFE Inventory

OK, so it looks like they are nearly sold out. I think cars.com has some errors (they show 5 leftover 2012 models at a dealer in Sacramento...) but Autotrader and ford.com agree as far as I can tell. There are 3 2013 and 1 2012 "leftovers", all of which appear to have been salesproofed...

    Remaining 2014 FFE Inventory

I think the Midwest is a pretty low volume FFE market? Aren't EV-certified dealers a rarity there? When we go ours here in SoCal, end of October, there were at least 100 of them within range of our house. Now I'm seeing 2!

Bosch EL-51253 - BAD unit, what to do with it ?

If they aren't going to support or warranty it at all, it may be very difficult. Unless there is a problem with the current transformer or external wiring, I can't imagine how you would troubleshoot a problem on the circuit board, let alone fix it. My only suggestion would be to get one of the...

    Remaining 2014 FFE Inventory

Does anyone have any idea what the remaining inventory of 2014 FFEs is, nationwide or locally? I'm just curious--it looks like they may well sell out completely given what I see locally.

    Charging network decay

Where are you at in WI? Here in SoCal, it varies a great deal by location. Some areas have a lot of charging opportunities, others are very thin. Some have a good amount of well-maintained free chargers (Rancho Cucamonga and Palm Springs are two I think are outstanding) and others only have...

Deal on Charging Station, should I go for it?

I got one and installed it, hard wired, and it seems OK. It actually seems simple well designed with useful features (delay, remote cord hook). The actual build quality seems a bit cheap-ish, but good enough for the home garage. There isn't much to these so one wonders why we think $500 is a...

Cheaper to use ChargePoint than charge at home

Yes, our 'special' SCE rate system really discourages high consumption of any kind. The only good thing is that if you have Solar and Net Metering, they have to credit you at those rates on what you generate. With Time-Of-Use metering, that means I get credited the highest rate during the day...

Body shop replaced my FFE hood... and I am concerned

@RickInAustin So...I got curious and went out to look at my hood. It is of the exact construction you describe your replacement as being and has the same numbers stamped in it. Mine is a 2014, uncrashed. So you got an "updated" hood as a replacement. How old is your car?

Body shop replaced my FFE hood... and I am concerned

It is possible that the original hood is different than the specified replacement part. 16612 indicates a hood, if the FFE had a different part number for a hood (it doesn't --I looked) then it would still have the 16612 number in it. The first thing that crossed my mind is that you got an...

    FFE range

@WattsUp Unfortunately, simplistic explanations sometimes get translated into frightful misconceptions like, "when driving an EV, you should do a lot of extra braking to get more energy". I hadn't thought of dumbing the conversation down quite that much...but OK! I get my 1/3 figure by...

    FFE range

@WattsUp I think we're having a semantic argument here. It is just like recycled products--there has to be an original product to recycle. Nonetheless, one can easily waste the product as opposed to recycling it. And every bit of product you recycle is a bit you don't need to procure new. I...

    FFE range

@davidd We've had our new Focus here in SoCal, the land of the freeways, for bit over a week. I'm not an experienced expert yet, but I've already learned a few things about range. 1) At reasonable temperatures (not Minnesota or Wisconsin winter) the HVAC just doesn't use that much energy. If...

    Current Residual Values

No X-Plan (or A-Plan) for the FFE. They were both listed on the copies of the invoices that I was shown.... :o

    Current Residual Values

It is hard to figure out what is going on in a lease deal until you see the contract itself--and even then it can be tough. Remember you have to pay up-front sales tax on all of the capital cost reduction items, including the rebates. That along with title, license, acquisition fee, etc...

    Zero Emission Parking Decal (California)

OK, here is the answer to my own question: California bill AB 475 amended CVC 25211 and eliminated the requirement for the decal. Good. It also authorized PHEVs to use the EV-dedicated spots (not as good) and allowed for towing of authorized PHEVs and EVs that are not connected for charging...

    Zero Emission Parking Decal (California)

I just learned that my new FFE needs a "Zero Emission Parking Decal" from the CA DMV in order to park in EV charging spots. There is an application and a $17 fee. Is everyone getting these? Do they just come with the registration or do I need to apply separately? Has anyone been called out...

    Current Residual Values

Sorry if I came off as upset at you No, I didn't take it that way. I've been on both sides of the table. That same dealer had a C-Max Energi sitting there with a supplemental price sticker for VIN etch, alarm and "Additional Market Value" (dealer markup over MSRP). That makes for a $38K...
