    Hypothetical extended range idea.

According to the 2013 owner's manual, we don't have to flatbed it. A wheel lift or dolly can be used, but not a slingbelt, to tow with the two rear wheels on the ground. See page 306: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/13fevom1e.pdf 2014 manual says the same...

Range anxiety and I haven't even bought it yet!

Well, if you like the Cruze... the Volt is built on a Cruze platform and has about a 40 mile all-electric range before switching to gas. Might be worth a test drive. If you do, try it in Sport mode. Perhaps the quietness and responsiveness of the electric drivetrain will sway you from the...

iPhone images: Southern California charging stations.

It's next to the library, across the street from the courthouse.

iPhone images: Southern California charging stations.

Here's a crappy picture of the one at the Beverly Hills courthouse. Needed a picture of the sign. And, of course, the accompanying story: http://ev-vin.blogspot.com/2013/11/free-electrons.html Here's one at work. My FFE is hiding behind the reindeer antlers, drowning in a sea of Chevy Volts...

FFE Vents Air Flow & Problem

I'm guessing that it was due to some manufacturability or repairability/durability issue. I agree that the big grille looks better and provide more of a family resemblance, but perhaps that thin strip of plastic between the headlights and the large faux grille had strength or rigidity issues...

70 mile round trip commute... On the edge?

That's great, Jenny! Glad to hear you've discovered a number of charging opportunities along your commute, thanks to EVA's advice regarding plugshare. If you haven't done so already, I strongly suggest that prior to your first electric commute, drive by the EVSEs you may have to rely on in the...

Front Plate Mounted Dead Center on the Grill.

Which dealership? The smaller dealerships I got the FFE and Volt from took the usual 4 to 5 weeks. The RAV4 EV, which was from Carson Toyota, took much less time - less than 2 weeks, from what I recall. And from what I can tell, they outsource their DMV registration process - the plates came in...

FFE Vents Air Flow & Problem

Actually, I ought to thank you because I didn't discover that feature until I ran your scenario yesterday! That makes two things I learned this week... the other thing is the fact that the rear seat bottoms flip forward. Weird, huh? It's from pluginamerica.org...

FFE Vents Air Flow & Problem

Okay, I tried your scenario on mine and the left vent blows as hard as the other three. Have you tried sliding the chrome bar in the center of the vent up and down? On my FFE, that shuts the air flow on and off as well as directs the air flow up and down... I suspect you know that since you...

FFE Vents Air Flow & Problem

If you're in El Segundo tomorrow (Friday), we can meet up for a few minutes to compare; I'll be driving my FFE in to work. My HVAC system seems to be working fine. PM'ed my email address to you, let me know...

California drivers: Show us pictures of your CAV stickers!

Never saw that Leaf link before, thanks! It seems that over half of the stickers out there are "creatively placed", so I wrote this up to hopefully help folks out: http://ev-vin.blogspot.com/2014/07/eyeballing-it.html My first attempt to sticker a plug-in came out straight, thanks to...

De-badged 2014 Ford Focus Electric Oxford White

Awesome pictures, studio460! Congrats on the awesome deal. Mind if I use a couple of them on a personal calendar? Will keep your copyright on it, of course. It's just a one-off I make to hang in my office, using shutterfly. Used to buy a Corvette calender every year, not really into that...

Lease with old lease trade in

How much higher is the lease payoff vs. value of the Kia? Knowing that would help determine if you're getting a fair deal or not. Is it less than $2400? If so, I'd say the dealer might be gouging you a bit. Accepting Richmond72's assertion that $330/mo is a fair deal for the Atlanta area...

    Energy Draw to Charge

Did a really quick search for net wisdom... Here's a glossary, albeit woefully incomplete - doesn't have FFE in it... WTF? Found others, but they didn't even have BEV in them... http://www.environmentfriendlystore.com/ebike-glossary.html

    Buying Maintenance Package for FFE

I suspect you will be fine with L1 at home. I'm 19 months into my lease and still haven't had the need for L2 charging at home. Like you, the 10+ hours at home on L1 is more than enough time to top off after charging at work. My workplace, like yours, has L2 EVSEs. I do want to get at least one...
