    Goodbye to my Focus Electric?

Click on his name, read his earliest posts. Basically, the dude effed up big time. You've probably heard the saying, "There's a fine line between courage and stupidity". Well, early on I commended him on his courage. Clearly, I effed up too.

    New Lease deals...

Wow, that's nuts. Am I reading this right? $400/mo after a $7K trade is a pretty bad deal. That's $21K over 3 years. Benchmark seems to be $300/mo including tax, $0 out of pocket, at least in these parts. That's only $10500 over 3 years.

EVSE's are us, and a contest winner

Awesome! Congratulations, jmueller! I'm really happy that it went to you... out of all the folks that post on myevblog.com, you by far have the best presence! I'm still feeding off of two L1 EVSEs on separate circuits every night to charge my three plug-ins. I have a third circuit available...

Platinum white with envy over Mt Hamilton hill climb. Socal?

I'm game! I can do either one... coming from Santa Clarita, so I'd need to top off to get home from either place. If Mt Wilson... I've used the free L2 EVSE at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, works fine. Haven't tried the Chargepoint at La Canada HS.

    The FFE Sport Appearance Package!

Impressive! The whole car is beautifully done, but those emblems.... wow. I like the way the green "E" pops out because of the contrast.

Ready to lease in Northern Ca

Per CVRP, reservations for the rebates are being taken, checks to be mailed in September. Gotta wait for the next fiscal year to start for new funding to become available, I presume. https://energycenter.org/clean-vehicle-rebate-project

Tips on extending the life of FFE in hot climates

That was probably me... here's a recent image capture from chargepoint session (L2) when the ambient temperature was about 81F in the sun. That hump at the end of the charge cycle, during the "saturation charge stage" is where the TMS noticeably turns on. At home when I charge at L1 in the...

    Storage mode

After 21000 miles in 16 months I have no noticeable loss in capacity. But I still try to keep the battery as close to 50% SOC as possible because even under ideal environmental conditions the battery will degrade based on # of charge cycles and the depth of those charge cycles. I'm turning my...

would you buy/lease an FFE today?

I'd suggest purchase if for those that can take full advantage of the $7500 federal tax incentive. With the $6K rebate on a purchase, that's $13500 off. Otherwise the lease is a great deal with the $11000 rebate. If I got a do-over right now, knowing what I know now, I'd go with the...

Looking for used or new FFE details in post

Yikes! I am so sorry about that. So I looked on craigslist in my area and autotrader in my area, only found one. was the wrong color. Did a nationwide search on autotrader, you may have seen this but in case you haven't there's a Ford dealer in Montana that seems to have a number of used...

Looking for used or new FFE details in post

If you're willing to do long distance, you might want to read through electricAZ's experience in closing a killer lease deal from California. He mentions the dealer in this post: http://www.myfocuselectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1716&start=120#p11070 Good luck, I'll keep my eyes peeled...

Impact of long sustained climb on battery, motor, range

Perhaps you were low on charge? :D TexiCali - that's my kind of fun, wish I were in the SJ area. If you have buddies with other types of EVs, would be interesting to see how their ride performs, and then compare notes...

range question for current FFE owners

Agreed! I think it is superior not only from a controls/navigation perspective, but also from an information display perspective. Of our three EVs , the Volt has the most archaic user display with lots of wasted space, and the MFT has the most advanced, comprehensive, and customizable displays...

Avoid Automatic Temp Control to Minimize A/C Range Impact

Wow, I never noticed that. But that's because I've never used the auto temp control when I need the A/C. Prefer to set the fan speed and then punch the A/C button as needed. Good to know, thanks for the info! So maybe now, thanks to your observation, I'm starting to understand why the Volt has...

    Good / Bad Lease Deal

Great questions, electricAZ. 1) Michael is right.... on a $0 drive-off lease, all those fees (5c through 5m)and the first month pmt (5b) are deducted from the rebate ($11K in your case), otherwise you'd have to pony up some $$$ before driving off. Line 7(b) would be $11K if you were getting a...

    Good / Bad Lease Deal

Awesome deal, Jason! I wouldn't blink twice before signing on the dotted line on that one. I'd start calling shippers at this point. This FAQ on the Volt forum by a LA Chevy dealer might help. References to a couple of shippers, among other things...

Mental note: Buy a car with a spare tire next time!

I have 19K miles on mine - mostly freeway. Only aggression they are exposed to are on-ramps and off-ramps. They look almost new.

    Workplace Charging

I'd take the paid reserved spot for $25. At $1/hour I pay about $60/mo for charging on the L2 EVSE at work (about 3 hours/day avg). FFE takes $20 of that, Volt takes $40 since it has a frustratingly slow 3.3kW charger.

    Workplace Charging

I've been charging at work daily on the company's Chargepoint L2 EVSEs. There is a $1.00/hr fee. No negative feedback from co-workers; mostly curiosity from ICE drivers asking about EVs and how much it costs to charge. Here's something I wrote up last December on workplace charging during my...

    September Sales-110 Units/Trouble in Fordsville

I think that if not for CARB and CA laws, even Tesla would not exist in this day and age. A couple of LA Times article last year postulated that if not for ZEV credits that Tesla earns and then sells to other auto manufacturers, the Model S would have to sell for $35,000 more...
