    Ford and PlugShare Team Up

jmueller, do you mean the list of EV charging stations as points of interest in the navigation system? Here in Chicago at least, that list has not seemed to get any updates. It is very inaccurate, both listing sites that don't exist and lacking many many sites that do. Is there another list...

names and titles of Ford employees working on EV's

I think I've seen 1 or 2 posts at most on myfordmobile from someone saying they are from Ford, and they were many months ago. Haven't seen anything from a Ford rep here.

    Suggested improvements for Focus EV

If you want it to be a two-seater, leave the back seats folded down. Voila! I don't golf but I imagine two bags of clubs would fit in that configuration. I believe typical "family cars" are way bigger than they need to be.

    highest (worst) real world Wh/mi?

Driving like you did on the way home- cold and wet, when I need warm defrost, I get around 350-400 Wh/mile. Otherwise if it's not actively raining/snowing, using climate on LO temp, lowest or second fan setting, and defrost vents opened is the best way to keep windshield and front door windows...

    Stop Safely Now Warning

I thought I saw a post a few months ago that had phone/email contact info for Ford's electric division, but I can't seem to find it now. Does anyone have that handy? My car has been at the shop since Monday morning, and I don't feel like they are giving it a full effort. They started out well-...

    Stop Safely Now Stats

Thanks for starting this... great idea. While waiting to hear what the service dept finds in my case, I searched the history of this problem too. I actually count 17 users on myfocuselectric who have posted that they have received the message, in the post threads "sudden power loss while...

    Dear Ford...

Right on. Pardon my mis-read on the comment, wattsup. You and jmueller have convinced me. I didn't see the wording on the EPA site jmueller quoted first as referring to how they come up with specific EV efficiency ratings... I read it as simply highlighting how much more efficient EV are...

    Stop Safely Now Warning

Crap! I now join the list of drivers who have seen this dreaded message. Yesterday morning, after an overnight level 1 non-value full charge and Go Time warming (35 outside), as I'm coming to a gentle stop at low speed out of our alley, I hear a pleasant chime and see the Stop Safely Now...

    Dear Ford...

Hope this wasn't meant to be as condescending as it reads... how long have you owned an EV? Welcome yourself :) Your explanation of the EPA numbers taking into account "wall to wheels" electric efficiency sounds nice. If it's true, then sure I have no reason to feel misled by Ford. But I don't...

    Dear Ford...

I don't mean to beat a dead horse. I like my FFE plenty, but I can't believe I'm the only one who feels misled by Ford on the range issue. Unlike other posters, I don't see it as neat that if I use 250 Wh/mi-- 22% less than Ford did on EPA's test course-- I arrive exactly at the EPA-listed range...

    Dear Ford...

Maybe a small detail, but the EPA range rating of the FFE is NOT based on 19kWh of available battery. The EPA doesn't say the FFE gets 250Wh/mi average energy consumption. Where did you get that from? The EPA's info on the vehicle sticker says they think you'll get 320Wh/mi. Their 76 miles...

    regeneration while coasting

@firewired What the manual calls "motor braking" is indeed regeneration or recapture of energy. In an ICE vehicle, motor braking produces heat. In the FFE, some energy is indeed lost as heat, but a large part is recaptured by the generator. It would make no sense for an EV to have a motor...

    regeneration while coasting

WindPowered is correct. I am pretty sure the owner's manual says something about regen when coasting (but I don't have the energy to go to my garage and check)- I believe the section explaining what "L" does says that there's more aggressive regen in L vs D I think. It is a logical conclusion...

Still missing the elusive 100 mile charge by a tiny bit...

Until spring weather arrives in the Midwest, I can't get near 100 myself. But I don't think there's any magic. Drive slower, accelerate more gradually, decelerate more gradually, keep tires ideally inflated. I'm sure you're aware that the numbers from your neighbors on my ford mobile are actual...

    New features

Yeah if charging at work is an option for Steve, even 110V, it won't be a problem. His post implied that charging at work is not an option. Looking at it in terms of how much of the "standard 76 miles range" used is confusing and just guessing. Look at it in terms of energy. My winter commute...

    See Manual- Yellow Wrench

Thanks v! That was my wife's instinct, to try to ignore it and see what happens. But since it was the first time and I haven't seen mention of it specifically here, I thought I'd ask. Hopefully it's akin to the way a check engine has always seemed to come on once in awhile on our other cars over...

    New features

Have to disagree with Stangale- a 52 mile trip can be done but is NOT easy to do if you really need heating. See posts from folks in Canada. Living in Chicago, my car predicts 48 miles range when temp is below ~35 degrees. I drive zen. That 48 assumes cabin heating remains on. You can go further...

    See Manual- Yellow Wrench

Hi! 2150 miles into FFE driving, hit my first snag. This morning my wife was going to take the car on an errand. I used my keyfob to remote start the car to warm it up for her, since it's about 30 degrees outside. She disconnected the 120V charger correctly and upon pushing the start button...

Update to MFT Coming Soon for FFE?

Looking forward to seeing the rest of what's new. From what's shown in the video, I will appreciate having the actual % battery capacity displayed. And updating go times from the car makes sense.

    Scheduled Maintenance

That looks like what I saw in my manual. My FFE has ~2000 mi so far so I haven't had maintenance yet. It would be nice to hear from any higher mile owners who have done the first 10k maintenance... how did the service go, how much did it cost?
