Missing trips on My Ford Mobile

Friday I got a text congratulating me on going over 5,000 miles on the Focus. In fact I've just gone over 1,500. I left my car at the Richmond, VA airport (RIC) while taking a trip to Michigan for a few days. I started getting texts one an hour to plug in the car "Ford Focus Electric has...

2013 Tuxedo Black now in action - first 24 hours:

good one, ram. I'm sure I wouldn't have purchased this full EV if I hadn't been comfortable my whole daily routine was within reasonable range of the Focus. Do you carry the 110V cable with you? I always wondered if in an emergency I could just sidle up somewhere and plug the 110V cable in...

    Hood Help

I also wondered about that, the hood has a slight ridge all along from left to right. I do not see any evidence of mis-assembly and it seems tight and secure. The seam is not smooth as I've come to expect in other cars, but the slight off set is uniform and everything seems tight. I put it...

2013 Tuxedo Black now in action - first 24 hours:

Hi Dream, Glad to hear things are going well. I only run 50 miles or less a day, but for me the Level 2 charger makes it totally practical. It can completely recharge at night in less than 2 hours usually. This fits neatly into the Dominion Power off off peak rate between 0100 - 0500 of less...

    Observations after 2 weeks

Hi Duba, congratulations. I enjoy this car immensely also. I have found the same thing also, that I cannot control the WHr usage. I think this has become more evident as morning temperatures began sinking through the 50s to the 40s, and so far even a few in the 30s. I have considerable...

    Winter conditions.

Yes, I don't know why it seems to be pulling so much, right off the bat in the morning after being plugged in all night and "using the grid to precondition" the car. It does seem to immediately drop the predicted range sometimes from 79 to 61. Turning off the climate now does jump the range up...

    Main Display Blank

Trying to connect to my iPad for BT Stereo, I had a couple of days when the big main display would show "connected to iPad", but BT Stereo would not show as available to select from the steering wheel selector menu, although it showed on the big main display, and i could select it on the main...

    Winter conditions.

Excellent topic, one I was wondering about back in September when I picked mine up and everyone was driving in near ideal, temperate conditions. The AC didn't seem to take many miles off the projected range, and I was curious about winter and cold conditions. Nights in Virginia lately have...

Question : Regarding Portable generators and the FFE

Well I use slightly larger generators on skids for remote site power sometimes. Honda is known to make very practical and quiet, small generators (yes, that's quiet, not quite). As the output of those is typically 110V you wouldn't charge very much, maybe 3-4 miles per every one hour of 110V...

    New Focus and Charging Topics

Hi again, guys. Rather than repost the same things here I did in another Forum, I'll post a link here. I know many of us are in two or more Forums, and it gets confusing to try and find threads sometimes. Based on having the car 1 week and just getting the 240V Leviton charger installed, I...

    Finally have mine!

1200 km north of Vancouver, that will be interesting to see how your heating goes. People have reported not too much of a drawdown when using the AC. I wonder if creating heat from the battery will draw down the range more than the AC. Maybe if you precondition the car at home or at work...

    VIN

I was out of state for a week but Jason told me you picked up your car. That is excellent. I hadn't heard from them so called again this week. They said it is still on hold at the Michigan Assembly Plant, having been produced but waiting something for shipment. Richmond Ford couldn't tell me...

    VIN

Jason said my car was produced and waiting shipment, possibly arriving 20th August. He said "the one that was ordered before yours" is in Maryland now. Is that yours? You could have it by Wednesday!

    Charging Port Door Opens Randomly

thanks fluke. my instincts would steer me away from charging in the rain, but that sounds good. i'm wondering about the fit and all. until i see it myself it just seems to be courting disaster to have a high voltage battery being charged from a 240v ac source while it is raining and moisture...

    Charging Port Door Opens Randomly

I have wondered about the weather worthiness. I'm planning on charging inside at home, but the dealer's already installed Leviton chargers are outside. Can you charge outside, in the rain? I wouldn't want to.

    VIN

Even though I have had the VIN for a month and the car was allegedly manufactured August 6, I still cannot register it on the myfordmobile app. It says it is an invalid VIN. No hurry, as long as it works after I take delivery.

Is the heater/defroster a range killer?

So, I'm pretty much All In. Dominion Power replaced my meter and put me on the EV Plus Whole House plan, for better or for worse. This should work okay as long as I don't have much running from 1 pm to 7 pm, which I don't. Right now the AC runs a little even when set at 80 - 82, but hopefully...

Is the heater/defroster a range killer?

Thanks for the info. It's a little hit and miss everywhere. Each of us has to dig around and apply to our own situation.

Is the heater/defroster a range killer?

Does the power company give you a real off peak discount? Looks like that will be a real advantage for me here in Virginia, between 1-5 am charging at less than 6 cents per kWh. with the discount that dominion power gives for off off peak charging the FFE will save more money than I originally...

    110 Miles + CLUB

Very Nice! I was interested in the terrain aspect. I have a rechargeable electric lawn mower, and if, due to rain, or laziness, I mow the lawn when it is really long, that really taxes the battery. I was wondering if people live in hilly or mountainous terrain and if hills (fighting gravity)...
