    Highway use

Check out this document on the second page. It has a nice chart to break out Wh/Mi at different speeds. http://avt.inl.gov/pdf/fsev/fact2013fordfocus.pdf

How to tell the charge rate when using a public EVSE?

Unfortunately, there is nothing native to show you these values. You're going to need a can bus device to get these values.

    Regen & Panic Stops

Regen is cut during ABS, but it would have been on when you were pre-ABS braking.

    Quick charge project

I am inching forward. It feels like I've been at this a long time. (Truth be told, I thought about it the first night I took the car home  ). I will post more pictures and information as I progress out of a hacked up setup to something more permanent. I've enlisted the help of a fellow I...

    Defrost without range loss

It really helps the defrost to crack the window with the fan running.

    Quick charge project

I connected to the CAN bus through the DTC port (this is the one behind the door under the headlight switch. The other OBD2 style port below all of the knee bolsters is the same, it's just at the CAN gateway. The DTC port (it is white and behind the knee bolster door) is the one recommended by...

    Quick charge project

Tom, I did consider swapping out the OEM port for an upgraded port, but as there are very few J1772 high ampacity stations, I decided to go with a second J1772. It will go under the hood. My intention is to use it on road trips where I can pull from two J1772 stations at once.

    Used FFE's

I thought I'd start a thread for everyone who bought used to share their experiences. Right now, it looks like you can pick one up for $15-16k. Here are my stats: Bought my 2012 FFE Ingot Silver, leather, with 2,000 miles on it in November of 2013. Got it for $22k. Also purchased the extended...

Check out my mobile Level 2 charging kit!

Correct, the neutral isn't used by the EVSE running at 208-240v. No problem!

Check out my mobile Level 2 charging kit!

About a foot of SJOOW or SOOW 12/3 awg cable. You can get it from the hardware store. The neutral pin from the 14-50 won't hook up to anything (it is the top pin opposite the round ground pin). In fact, if you get the configurable 14-50/14-30 from the hardware store you don't have to install the...

Check out my mobile Level 2 charging kit!

The folks at EVSE adapters will make you one if you email them, or you can make it yourself.

    Rear Discs Surface is rough...9000miles

Just put the car in neutral while braking. It will be all friction braking.

Long time owners without major issues?

I agree about the tires. With 18k miles (including two previous winters with winter tires) my stock tires were shot. I'm probably going with Michelin Primacy. I don't think the ultra LRR tires do that much at all for range. Full disclosure: I do chirp tires a lot.

Car won't stop texting me that it's "severely" cold?

I still don't like the sounds of this. I'm worried there is an intermittent problem with a temperature probe somewhere in the pack.

    Stop Safely Now Warning

It's not near the battery pack, it's under the hood at the High Voltage Junction Box.

Long time owners without major issues?

To go along with my quote you posted above, I haven't had any SSN's that were not caused by me. I have 22k miles and no major issues to date. With the extremely cheap ($16k with 2,000 miles) used FFE's out there with low miles, I'd definitely buy again. However, once the next generation of 200...

Car won't stop texting me that it's "severely" cold?

And I realize the battery wouldn't be severely cold in SoCal, but it could be a faulty temperature sensor in the battery pack if it is showing the turtle when you run the car. For the record, I've had the car in -10F for 10 hours and have never gotten the limited performace alert. I've only read...
