    highest (worst) real world Wh/mi?

I've got almost 11k miles and my lifetime average is 270 Wh/Mi. Using the Trip Odometer to observe the short term consumption, but if I go very long without resetting, it always averages out to 270. I never use climate and only occasionally use the seat heaters. Average speed is 70 on the...

    Better front license plate mounting?

I ditched my front plate. It looked like hillbilly buck teeth, totally destroying the look of the car. I keep the plate and bracket in the "bilge" with the travel cord in case I get pulled over. I have some of those push rivets so it can go on and come off easily.

Where is OBD-II connector (if any)

There are two connectors. The usual one behind the cover that says OBD and a second one that's up underneath near the steering column. I had a data logger plugged into the second one and it grabbed some pretty interesting information, but I had to upload the log files to a website to have...

    When to rotate tires?

One of the mitigating features that I was hoping would offset the huge premium I paid for an electric car is NOT having to go to the dealer as often as I did with a gas car. I can fill up my own washer fluid and check my own tire pressure. The goal is to rotate the tires only once during their...

    Interior LED light upgrade

For the cargo area lights I used some dome light replacement panels. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0081Q0PXC They are 4x4 5050 warm white LEDs. I mounted them at the rear most point of the openings where you access the tail lights. The stock wiring harness reaches if you remove the socket...

    When to rotate tires?

After 10k miles, I checked the tread depth of my tires. Here's "wear" they are: Front: .20" Rear: .28" At what mileage should I rotate front to back so that both fronts and rears will wear down to .06" at the same time? Knowns and assumptions: Depth when new: .30" Depth to replace: .06"...

vent system always comes on to the highest fan speed.

When I refer to the "lower fan speed" I meant just press the small fan speed control button to turn the climate system on. That will power the system on with the fan at the lowest setting.

    Technical Service Bulletin TSB 12-8-20

I notice my range dropping due to my Wh per mile going up from about 265 to 320. I thought it was the cold weather battery heater.

pedestrian warning tone in 2013 model?

I took a look at a 2013 at the dealer last week. Two things I noticed: - No more home link garage door remote in the sun visor. - Small, shallow tray insert added to center console compartment. Still no slot for your USB phone charger cable to pass out of the console compartment.

    New Focus EV Owner!

Don't forget to take advantage of all the public charging stations. You can find them at http://www.chargepoint.com Go to the find stations page. When zoomed in to the individual station level, you'll see green icons meaning those stations are available, and blue icons indicating those stations...

vent system always comes on to the highest fan speed.

The work-around is to use the "lower fan speed" button to turn on the system. I have written to Ford suggesting that they fix this so the climate settings remain unchanged though a power off. I have also suggested that there be an "Econ" mode that allows the fan to be on without trying to...

    Best bike carrier?

While I can get a bike in the car, folding the seats down and removing the front wheel is too much hassle. Can anyone recommend a rear mount bike carrier for two bikes? I just tried the Yakima Super Joe 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack and it didn't fit at all. Too bad because it appeared pretty well...

    Spare tire

Roadside assistance will handle the blowouts, but for the occasional nail/slow leak scenario, I'm considering getting a spare to keep in the garage. Either a full size on a steel rim or a compact spare from the gas Focus. In the event of a nail in the tire, I thought having a spare in the...

Charging Fault Msg Followed by Full Stop of Charging

Whenever I use the Value Charge profile and plug the car in, I get several messages that read: "We thought you would like to know that Jim's FFE 94303 has experienced a fault while charging. Please verify that there isn’t a problem with your power source. If this problem persists, contact your...

Charging Station Options For The Focus Electric

I'll divide this post into two sections: 1. Home charging stations (Beyond the travel cord) 2. Public / workplace charging stations HOME CHARGING STATIONS: There are two types of level 2 (240 volt) charging stations (also called EVSE) for the home: 1. Those that supply up to 16A (amps) and...

    Hatch Area Mat

I just got a small moving blanket for the cargo area. It covers the battery cover and tucks down behind the seat backs.

    Charging and life recommendations...

I asked someone at Ford about the lack of an 80% charge option and he told me that it's not necessary with the Focus. I would not recommend compulsively topping off. Just charge whenever it works best for your schedule. Ford had a very sophisticated battery management system. I usually...

    Daytime running lights

I thought that's what the right most setting was for. I guess that's just the automatic on-off function. Sometimes I see two green headlight icon on the I/C light up. I thought that was the DRL.
