Anyone else find the steering to be too light?

I agree that the acceleration/steering feels "light" and requires extra attention. I would describe it as a general loss of traction. 1) Could the weight of the battery in the back cause more traction loss? 2) Would putting on after market tires that are not "low rolling resistence" fix this...

Just about ran the battery out yesterday, barely made it home

We drove it till it lost acceleration (coasted in next to our garage) and went about 1-2 miles past 0. We did it just so we understood its limits and what would happen exactly. Feels like it just goes into neutral. The GPS is funny. The circles of range shrink and shrink until zero and then...

    2012 FFE Trailer hitch

My unfortunate suspicion is that Ford purposefully made it hard to install hitches because towing weight would hurt the electric motor or the direct drive. This silent parenting approach is not appreciated. Any ideas from any engineers about if/how towing might affect an electric motor...

Portable Level 2 EV charger recommendations?

We are probably going to do the CC at the end of the year while federal incentives are still active. Only need level 2 once or twice a month, for those days you need to make more than one longer trip. For the price you just can't beat it. Personally I feel like the brain of the EVSE should be...

    new sync update. Total FAIL!

The first few days after we took delivery our system was SUPER buggy. A simple shut down and reset of the the Sync system cleared it of its bugginess. Still very busy and not super intuitive, but functional. See if it helps, or make them give you a new one for breaking yours.

    New Lease deals...

Yes! You'd only be paying for $11,655 of the cost of the vehicle while it depreciates down to $14K-$16K residual value. That's like spending $26K to drive a $35K car. You'll probably save $200-$300 in gas each month alone which makes it almost F-R-E-E (shhhhhhh). Ford is giving these cars away...

    Potential FFE owner.

Here in Portland Oregon, I am just approaching the "cool" season. I drive 32 miles each way (25 highway) to work and charge level 1 to full while I'm there. I usually have 50-54 miles left when I get to work in ideal temp. Now that I'm turning on defrost and heat (and playing it heavy with the...

    Bring Your Own Cord Intiative

I usually trickle charge at work with an 120v outlet on the outside of the building. But I subbed today at a differenent location and there was none. I got audacious enough to allen wrench a panel off of a lamp post to see if it was hiding an outlet. None, alas. I know there's a lot of press...

12-volt battery died; Ford "working on a patch"

We had a similar situation, however we did not need to resort to a jump. Fully charged the car, and then it sat for a full day in the garage. Charging port light never came back on. My wife went to drive it the following (3rd) day and it would not start, dash would not come on, screen did some...

New My Ford Touch is out version 3.6.2

After 3.6.2 I've noticed that the back up camera has a color changing grid. Novel. Mildly helpful. The home screen also seems to have more info/graphics about the the four topics displayed. Those are the only things that stick out to me.

Ford extends the warranty on MyFord Touch system

I bet the extension has to do with the class action law suit that someone tried to bring against them.

A Different Kind Of Range Extender

That concept would be an awesome rental unit, but not to buy. It also highlights an aparent gap in the market of larger EV vehicles. Heck, I would love to rent additional modular batteries just for the day or weekend sometimes.

    Confused GPS since 3.6.2

I've upgraded to the 3.6.2, but I do not have the same issue with the GPS. Rebooting the microsoft MySync usually does the trick (see manual for how to do a reset).

    CHAdeMO Mod

I read on insideevs that Europe is trying to ban CHAdeMO. Looks like we'll have combo plug on both continents. http://insideevs.com/european-parliament-prepares-draft-calling-for-terminatation-of-chademo-in-europe/ Makes me wonder what outragious price the Japaness are "charging" automakers to...

FFE "clicking" while parked in garage

I've noticed that when I let off the brake while it is in the garage, it makes a vibrating noise, probably due to something in the regenerative braking. Probably a little different from your clicks though.

    Focus Plug Adapters

It is possible to do what you are proposing, but not with the cord that comes with the FEE. The cord you need is $1027 at EVSEupgrade.com plus whichever adapter you want. To my knowledge, they are the only one that safely does this.

    Charge at any 240 outlet.

EVSEupgrade.com offers a charging cord/point that theoretically can be plugged into any voltage/amp outlet such as 240 volt (currently $1027 plus any adapters you want). The idea is that the "home stations" that we are buying are just fancy fixed cords that tell the car's on-board charger what...

Roof Rack affect on watts / mile

Installed a Thule 480R rack using fit kit 1627 on my FEE. Lifetime summary at install is 564.5 miles with an average of 276 Wh/mi avg (3.6 miles/kWH). After another 500 miles with the rack (no box or basket) I rechecked the lifetime summary to see how detrimental the aeroblade bar induces. At...

Convince me to lease- scared of "Stop Safely Now" issues

In regards to the 2014 MSRP being less, this does not translate into a cheaper lease payment. If anything it is higher, because the difference between selling price and a lower residual on 14 is greater than incentive price with higher residual on a 13.

Convince me to lease- scared of "Stop Safely Now" issues

I was totally in the same boat, 1 day before signing lease found out about the SSN issue. I was more concerned about my wife becoming stuck and regreting the lease. After I told her about it, and she was adventurous enough to want to take the risk, it was enough for me to seal the deal. Plus...
