FFE 2012 G-tech acceleration numbers
Tested July 26, 2012
Road is undulating but straight and mostly level.
Temp was 91 degrees f.
10' elevation.
Battery at 78 miles remaining.
Driver weight 145lbs.
Max speed appeared to be 88mph.
AC was off. Windows were closed.
Car has just over 100 miles on it.
The front tires did not spin this time. (They spin everywhere else).
No fancy foot work. Let off brake and floored accelerator with same foot. Car starts moving as soon as brake is released.
Preprogrammed rollout distance of 1”(clock doesn’t start until car has rolled 1”, actual dragstrip is closer to 1’.)
Recorded 123 Peak Wheel HP at 50mph.

FFE has two distinctive step drops in G force(acceleration) at 32mph and at 83mph? Electronic SCR cutout? Vacuum pump or Cooling fan start?

FFE 0 to 30 time of 4 second is much slower.
FFE 30 to 50mph is faster 3.222s
FFE 50 to 70mph is faster 4.987s

Conclusion: The FFE is slow off the line because it is stuck in 2 gear.
It’s passing acceleration times are OK because it is stuck in 2nd gear.
It appears that the FFE accelerates like a gas car that has only one gear (2nd).

After further review of some 2009 FFE data from Ford and Magna, it appears that the gear ratio(5.4:1) in the FFE is closer to the 3rd gear (not 2nd gear as I stated earlier) in a gas, manual transmission, 2012 Focus(1.45third gear X 3.82carrier reduction= 5.54:1).
It appears that there may be a way that FFE can be made to accelerate slightly quicker from a stop than just letting off the brake pedal and then pushing down the accelerator pedal: I pulled up the parking brake. Then with the FFE in "D", let off the brake, you can feel the creep mode trying to move the car. Depress the accelerator slightly, then let off the parking brake and depress the accelerator to the floor simultaneously. I got some wheel spin and the car took off at what felt to be much quicker than normal.(I am running soft compound 18" Summer tires on my FFE) I haven't documented it with a Gtech to verify the 0-30mph time yet, but it sure feels quicker.
