Cornering lights?

According to the Ford web site, the FFE has "HID automatic headlamps with LED signature lighting and cornering functionality". If you look closely at the headlight assembly, there does indeed appear to be a bulb and reflector for "cornering", however I have not been able to make it come on. Driving at night at low speed and making turns, with or without the turn signal, does not activate a cornering light. I've even examined the lights while stopped, wheel turned, signal on, get out and check, but that bulb does not illuminate.

Has anyone managed to make the cornering lights work on their FFE? Is there some trick to turn them on?

How old is your FFE? There was a recall due to the side lights on the headlight assembly not turning on (they were miswired at the factory).

2 weeks, and it had only recently arrived at the dealer. I'll check the build date and call Ford to see what is up.

You can also go to syncmyride.com, login and register your car (using the VIN), and see if there are any pending recalls.

Thanks. No recalls showing for my car. Build date is late March 2014, so I would think it somewhat unusual to have identified a recall that soon.

Well, there was recall for the amber side lights on the front headlamp assemblies. They were mis-wired and would never turn on. There was a recall to correct the wiring. I had it done and now the amber lights (LEDs) come on with the running lights.

AFAIK, there is no special "cornering" lights on the FFE.

Hummmmmm.....Have any FFE owners observed cornering lights coming on when making 90 deg turns at night?

If you search on line, you can find videos demonstrating the cornering lights on an ST model. Ford implies the FFE has cornering lights on their web site, and if you look closely at the headlight assembly you can see there is a lamp and reflector that appears to be a cornering light but I can't make it turn on.

According to my 4 page list of items on the car I just ordered at the beginning of may, the description of the headlights is as follows.

"Fully Automatic Projector Beam High intensity Low Beam Headlamps w/Delay-off."

Not entirely sure what that means. The whole car description reads like this. And I sure hope they are wired correctly lol.

Looking at a video of an escape showing off its "cornering" lights, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dH6eZ5ejedA we see that the cornering lights are literally corner lights that turn on with the signal lights or steering below 20mph.

So much for motorized head lights which is what I thought they were.

I'm confused, did you order a Canadian FFE?

It is possible that the FFEs built for that market have different headlamp assemblies (though I have never heard that). The FFEs built for the US market do not have cornering lights. I do not see any "extra" bulb or reflector in my (US) FFE.

In addition there is no mention of such functionality in the US owners manual.

Yes I ordered Canadian. The ford website I listed above is ford Canada hence the .ca.

Sadly, I checked with the dealer I ordered it through and my sales person has left the dealership. Don't know why. Seemed to be doing ok. I'd sure like to meet and have a chat.

I checked in to see if there was a vin number yet. It's been a month and all.
But nope. Best guess is another two weeks for the vin and a month or so before production. So my bet on pre summer vacation time delivery is off. I'm projecting possibly September some time. I told the sales guy that I'd likely get it just in time to put it into winter storage.

Not all bad though, I have my charger gizmo and I had an electrician over to determine what I need to do to wire it into the garage.
Going to replace the 30amp service and put a 60Amp service in so I get to dig a 30 foot trench for the power cable. Lots of time to do it.

I checked and compared the Ford.com and it says "HID automatic headlamps with LED signature lighting and cornering functionality "

And they are about 1k cheaper.
