Hi and thanks in advance for reading my post. I apologize in advance if this topic is posted elsewhere on the forum. I am new.
I am very interested in purchasing a Focus EV. I have done some research on the tax credits and such but was hoping someone on the forum has been thru this before that could help clear up the grey areas, as I find it difficult to have someone from a FORD dealer ship call me back and when they do they lack knowledge of this topic or even the EV car in general.

Basically I am interested in buying a 2013 model. The incentive from the government for the $7,500 only lists 2012 models. Will 2013 be included?

I believe there is a $2500 rebate that EV buyers are qualified for. right?

Are there any other incentives out there?

I would imagine Ford dealerships would be all over this to help move these cars, but I cant even get a call back.

Any info would be helpful. Thank you.

Regards,
future EV owner in SO. CA.

Any car sold in 2012 irrespective of model year qualifies for 7500 tax credit. You got to have 7500 in federal taxes to get the credit. 2500 rebate exists in CA until the rebate program runs out of funds but the program still has 15 million. So it is not going to run out anytime soon. There are no other incentives on the 2013 model. The 2012 had a 1000 cash back till 10/01. The car is in a peculiar low supply, low demand situation. So prices are unstable. Please shop around.

Keep in mind, at least from what I know, the 2013 has LESS features than the 2012. For example the universal remote built into the driver visor is gone in 2013. Which makes no sense. To me this has become an expected feature of any new car. Plus why remove items instead add to?

I stopped in a the local ford dealer in Pacific Beach CA today. The sales people I spoke to said both incentives totaling 10,000 are valid for both 2012 and 2013 models and they actually walk you through the process to receive the refunds when buying the car.

Actually it is no big deal. Just Google "CA EV rebate" and follow step by step instructions. I got my check within 60 days after applying. The fed credit I will get when fill up my turbo tax online next year.

For the federal tax credit check irs.gov for details. Also, make sure you can get the full benefit (e.g. pay at least $7500 in taxes).

I got my $2500 rebate check from CCSE 3 weeks after applying. Folks there are very responsive.

I am on day 28 waiting for my HOV lane access to come back from DMV.

Proposed budget for 2013 may increase federal tax credit to $10,000.
A quote from source NYT section "wheels":
The budget introduced Monday by President Obama for the 2013 fiscal year included a provision (PDF) of particular interest to sellers and potential buyers of alternative-powertrain vehicles.

If the provision were preserved, it would increase the current maximum federal income tax credit for certain plug-in vehicles from $7,500 to as much as $10,000. The credit would no longer be claimed by the consumer, but by the vehicle’s seller or financer, who could opt to give buyers a break at the time of sale by reducing the list price.

Don't know what to make of that last sentence.
