Since people can connect to WiFi using a mobile WiFi hotspot like a MiFi already, what does in-car WiFi enable or offer that bringing your own MiFi device does not?

It doesn't but the MiFi wasn't readily available when this version of Sync first came out (late 2010), and it provided a "sales brochure tick point".

In addition, just about every smartphone these days can provide a hotspot.

Besides, with the kludgyness of My Ford Touch would you really want to depend on it for internet? (Given that the routing is a basic function in windows this feature probably performs pretty well even though nobody uses it! LOL)

Tried to get the following to work with my unlocked Android phone:

LTE --> Phone --> Bluetooth --> MFT --> WIFI

Unfortuantly I can't get the car to connect to my phone's BT PAN profile. All other bluetooth functions work ok with minor bugs :)

Has anyone had success getting something similar set up?
