I'm totally envious over the adventure the bay area people had with their Mt Hamilton climb. Anyone in Los Angeles want to try something similar?

Two proposals:

1. Meet in La Canada Flintridge, climb to Mt Wilson and return
(start 1300, climb to 5700 and return approx 40 miles)

or

2. Meet in Simi Valley, climb over Grimes Canyon to Fillmore and return
(start 1000, descend to 500, climb to 1350, descend to 450 and return, approx 40 miles)

or

3. open to suggestions.

The Mt Wilson climb is far more ambitious, and there are observatory tours. Plugshare shows several charging stations nearby but I can't vouch for any of them

The Grimes canyon is far less climbing, but I think I can arrange for charging before and after at my workplace in Simi.

Any interest?

I'm game! I can do either one... coming from Santa Clarita, so I'd need to top off to get home from either place.

If Mt Wilson... I've used the free L2 EVSE at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, works fine. Haven't tried the Chargepoint at La Canada HS.

Great to see others are joining in! If I was a bit closer I'd come join too.

BTW - besides having a great time and meeting some fellow FFE enthusiasts, our hill climb also boosted my confidence in the car and gave me a better feel for how much was possible with a limited range vehicle. And the feeling of getting all that energy back when you come down the hill is golden.

Please keep us posted and share some photos and stories of your hill climb.

Cheers!

I feel "guilty" now whenever I drive cars that don't recover energy when slowing or going downhill. Seems so unnatural and wasteful to just throw all that kinetic value away.

Totally agree. And that have a huge radiator air inlet to get rid of all the wasted energy.
