In your photo, 32 (budget) + 11 (surplus) = 43 (current estimate)
The battery number is always total of the budget (what the car predicted the range would be when you turned it on) and the status/surplus (the adjustment as you drive, when the car sees how you are atually doing), which yields the "current" estimate for range. The budget always counts down in actual miles driven as you drive. The status/surplus number will vary with your driving, and thus the current range estimate shown on the battery will vary by the same amount.
Additionally...
When not using the navi, you see a positive or negative number called "status" next the budget. The status number represents how much more (or less) range is currently estimated compared to the original estimate (the budget). It is simply the difference between the car's original estimate (aka, budget) and car's ever-changing estimate (the battery number) as you drive. If the status is negative, you are using more energy that the car predicted you would (and so the current range estimate is adjusted down by this much). If positive, you are using less energy (and thus the current range estimate is adjusted up).
It gets interesting when you engage navigation. When you are using the navi (as it seems you were when you took the photo) you see a positive or negative number called "surplus" (instead of "status"). The surplus number represents how much range you will have once reaching the planned destination. This all works similarly to the case with the "status" number, except it is exclusively relative to the distance to your destination. In other words, when using the navi with a positive surplus, the car thinks that you will "make it" to the current destination based on your current driving patterns. But, if the status goes negative, the car no longer thinks you can make it. You may need to slow down or turn off accessories (esp. the climate control). Basically, the surplus helps you understand whether you will make it.
