Sync and iphone text to bluetooth

i went to the darkside with an iphone 6+ work phone and quickly noticed that the text to speech is not working. the calling works, just not text to speech.

am i missing something? is apple really that big of a pos to not allow it, or is this a sync issue?

Go into your bluetooth settings for sync and turn on "Show Notifications" (on your phone).

And, I believe that you must restart the iPhone after turning this on before the car will read the text messages.

No you just have to cycle the car (e.g. turn it off and then back on again).

Ah! I knew you had to power cycle something... It's the car & not the phone. Thanks!

Huh... I don't think Sync can do that. Unless it is something supported via the phone's voice recognition.

Yeah the other way isn't supported by MyFordTouch on iPhones.

I use Siri to send texts. I usually keep my phone in the pocket of my shirt. I can press & hold the home button without taking my eyes away from the road. Then Siri talks through MFT to send a text. I'll use the car to listen to messages & Siri to reply.
