Ok my MFM does not want to unlock my car for the last 3 hours... I can see the car; update its status and even lock and remote start
but not able to unlock..
very frustrated

One thing that is weird is that the radio and dashboard have been on the whole time; maybe the car thinks I am driving and does not want to unlock.

time to locate the spare key.

Very weird! I've had periodic issues with MFM and the locking/unlocking/remote starting not working but usually all features fail at once.

Sounds like you left the ignition on.

This is puzzling me; now I just did a Remote Start and that also locks up the doors!

Maybe I need to look at the door auto lock feature (doors lock up as I start driving)

Well yeah of course it locks the doors when you start the car remotely. You want somebody to get in your car while it is running and drive off?

Even still, it is documented: When you remote start the car via the app it first locks the doors (I'm guessing this is because remote starting via the app simply uses the same internal mechanism in the car that remote starting via the key fob does).

That does not make sense! you can't drive that car unless you have the key, right? So why FFE bothers to lock upon remote start if the car was unlocked the whole time.

In my case the frustration is that I NEVER lock the cars I own (unless I am at parking lot). I have many keyless cars where I even leave the key laying around the car. And I have never been locked out as I have with the FFE having to go and find my second set of keys to get in because the MFM does everything else but unlock the doors.

Well I can confirm that the MFM consistently will no unlock the car if it has been remote started or if the ignition was on.

Better make sure the keys are always on you.

NOW I AM EVEN MORE ANNOYED!

Tonight I drive to my house and carry my kids in the house and come back to find my car locked! My keys were still inside and I guess I had left the car "on" but I still don't know why the car locked itself in the first place.

Anyhow could NOT get the car unlocked ..MFM kept telling me "unable to unlock doors" ..lights on for hours until I had to be driven miles to get another set of keys .

This is definitely a bug in my book...the car is listening to MFM; I can remote start and lock the car BUT can't unlock if the car is "ON" or has been remote started. Even a "remote start" should only eventually turn the car OFF after 10 minutes (or whatever the timer is set at) as far as I am concerned

There is NO logic to this!

Maybe the logic is that if somebody (under normal circumstances, presumably) is inside the car and has chosen to lock the doors (for whatever reason) their decision should override all else.

----

Question: Will the second key fob unlock the car (remotely) if the first key fob is already inside the car and the occupant has chosen to lock the doors?

Thats why I keep my key FOB in my pocket when I leave my house and never take it out and leave it in the car.
I find it easier to just leave the FOB in my pocket and lock/unlock the car by moving my thumb over the spot on the door latch outside when I leave the car and it unlocks when I go to open the door.
I never need to use the FOB keys to lock/unlock, I just do it when I leave the car or return by using my hand on the door latch.
In my garage I always leave the driver side window rolled down too, making it easy to just reach in and press the door lock/unlock button if I don't have the FOB on me.

Pretty scary as you could have small kids inside who might have played with the lock button (not my case here) and could not get them out.

Yes the second fob will Unlock the car when I approach it

Have you taken the car to the dealer? Something is obviously not working correctly. Have you tried deleting the car from MFM and adding it again?

No, you cannot unlock the doors via MFM if the car is on. This is a feature.

But, yes, what might be wrong is the car supposedly "locking itself" when fbitz777 walked away leaving the car on but with the keys inside.

Oh! I didn't realize this and I didn't realize that fbitz had left the car on in his comment. Good to know...
