What did you do with your Focus today?

I see ... so you're referring only to the cost of the propulsion energy and not the all-in costs per mile to yourself or the rest of the planet. As far as the sour comment goes, that was my mistake. That was the first post if yours that I'd seen, and it just sounded a little sour; like you...

Any 3G to 4G modem upgrade kits still available?

I called that dealership today and they were completely unhelpful, not at all interested in even exploring the possibility that they had an obsolete part languishing on their shelves even while a willing buyer was talking to them on the phone. All they could say was that without a part number...

What did you do with your Focus today?

Heima: I see now that you are sour on the FFE you say is in your garage. To your question, I can say that yesterday, I drove our FFE down the highway to my daughter & son-in-law's house 24 miles away to help with grandkids. My wife was running errands most of the day in our VW ID.4 helping her...

Any 3G to 4G modem upgrade kits still available?

I'm in the same boat as Dominic and have yet to have seen any posts pointing to an available modem upgrade. Your post, Heiman, is more interesting than useful to someone like me who does nit have the knowledge, skills, or tools to pull off a DIY upgrade. But I suspect you know that saying "find...

    2017 FFE Battery degradation

Wind_driven: useful info and opinion ... thanks! My impression from the the still limited use we've made of our 2017 FFE (bought used in October) is that using the heater and defroster were pretty meaningful energy drags. This is only partially reflected in the drop in estimated range when the...

Charging Start and Charging Complete Times Stuck

And if anyone out there knows a source for the newer modems, I'd be interested in the vendor specifics!!

    New Tires

Our pack has degraded by ~20% (+/- 5%) so the max range estimate I've seen is 105 miles. Around town at speeds under 50 we clock around 250-280 watts/mile. I didn't have the old tires on long enough to get a feel for their range/efficiency, so can't compare. Sorry.

    Two electrics in the house

Our preowned FFE came with an L1 charger that I haven't even taken out of the boot yet. I'll have to take look at that label. I assume an adapter for the plug would be required. So where does that come in handy? If I have to charge up at an RV park for instance?

    New Tires

When we bought our 2017 FFE (a few months ago) its tires were nearly bald. The guy at our local Belle Tire was happy to install non-LRR tires on the car. Given that the car's role would be to play second fiddle to our '23 ID.4 and get limited use (retirees!), I didn't figure having LRR tires...

    Two electrics in the house

That's an interesting observation concerning the different precharging behaviors of the two cars on 120v. In addition to the L2 charger in the garage I typically use, I have an L1 charger for our ID.4 with which to experiment. We're having an unseasonably warm winter here so far in West Michigan...

How Good is the FFE Battery Warranty?

Thanks for the info ... very useful. We're thinking that as long as we have a longer range EV in the garage, and the FFE's systems continue to function, it will be useful and not a brick. Best of luck with yours!

How Good is the FFE Battery Warranty?

Perhaps not exactly to the point, Spirillis, but still informative and helpful ... thanks!

How Good is the FFE Battery Warranty?

Does anyone know what Ford's official definition is of acceptable "degradation over time" as this phrase is used in their battery warranty language to limit their liability? I have a 2017 Focus electric whose battery has lost somewhere around 20% of its capacity (give or take), so somewhere...

    2017 FFE Battery degradation

Very sorry to hear of your warranty travails. If there isn't a business that services/rebuilds OEM batteries, there ought to be. But here's my question following on this topic: does anyone know what is Ford's official definition of acceptable "degradation over time" as this phrase is used in...

Newbie here ... ! Basic Questions

Thanks much, Anti ... very helpful! Nearly all of the driving we've done so far has been at 70mph, so our usage is well over 250 wh/mi. But I do like the precision of that stat, and wish I could find an equivalent from our ID.4! Cheers!

    2017 FFE Battery degradation

Spirilis: You mention using an OBD2 scanner that is showing you real-time data. As a new owner of a 2017 FFE (42k miles on odometer) I would love to know what OBD setup might work on this car. Can you advise?

Newbie here ... ! Basic Questions

Thanks very much. We're using the display you mention, which I agree is helpful. I don't find a State Of Charge (%) figure anywhere. Since we don't know how the figures its miles of range estimate I'm not sure how to assess its accuracy for our driving habits. So seeing the actual battery...

Newbie here ... ! Basic Questions

Hello all ... is any body still out there? We just acquired a 2017 FFE to use as our 'around town' car, havinf recently turned in a leased 2020 Chevy Bolt EV Premium after driving it for ~3 years. Our other car is a 2023 VW ID.4 ProS AWD. So, after the Bolt & the ID.4, getting the FFE feels a...
