    Best plug-in outdoor charging station

Yeah, I got my replacement 14-50 adapter in the mail direct from Tesla.

    120v Charging Outdoors

If you're up at 400 Wh/mi for a really bad commute with heat and speed, your 30 miles will take 12 kWh. The capacity at very cold temperatures drops to about 16.5 kWh. You could charge up 10.368 kWh assuming 9 hours charge time, 80% efficiency (that's low), charging at 1.44 kW. So you would...

    120v Charging Outdoors

You shouldn't have much of an issue as you are plugging in right after your commute. Your battery will be relatively warm from driving in. So the time the 900 watt battery heaters will be running will be minimal. For what it's worth, in -15F weather, I ran out of charge 2 miles from my...

    They're Multiplying

I could have, but I just stopped because I saw the FFE and the other one was parked in front of an out of service EVSE.

Some of my other Electric rides

I thought about going battery powered too, but I think I'm going to go corded. It's much cheaper, and I put outlets at strategic points around my yard, so it shouldn't be an issue. Also, I saw your post about the snowblower. I looked at the current available electric ones, and I wasn't too...

    They're Multiplying

Only the second time I've seen another FFE in my area! Wexford, PA

Ford branded Levitron EVSE and/or Jesla EVSE

I've used the JESLA (I did the conversion myself, but same thing) since November. No issues. It's the most flexible EVSE out there. Based on the adapter you use you can make your own additional adapters and plug into any outlet available. NEMA 5-15, 5-20, 6-15, 6-20, 6-30, 6-50, 14-30, L14-30...

Avoid Automatic Temp Control to Minimize A/C Range Impact

I do agree, that I wish it could be inhibited completely. However, pull up the MyView screen and put the accessory consumption display up. When your range drops to 50 miles, note that the Climate bar will peak to max, but less than a minute later it will go back to nothing. My point being is...

Avoid Automatic Temp Control to Minimize A/C Range Impact

The range estimation is based on use of the climate control and what mode it is in. The various modes that it is in have historical estimates of energy usage. So when it is 70F and you have the HVAC set to 72F, you are in a mix of heat/AC. This mix isn't inherently terrible. The HVAC does not...

    Workplace Charging

Would you guys who have the charging at work rather have a paid, reserved spot with a 120V outlet, or a free for all? The cost would just be to cover the electricity for the month ~$25.

    Workplace Charging

We are possibly getting Level I 120V outlets to charge at work in the near future. What are your experiences charging at work? I'd like to hear from anyone who does regularly or on occasion. What is your setup? Is there a fee? Any negative feedback from coworkers? Pictures would be interesting...

    Charging Power consumption oddity..

The Rav4EV will take up to 40A from an EVSE at Level II voltages (208-240V). The FFE will only take at max 30A, usually closer to 29A. The Chargepoint station is likely advertising 32A. So the difference between the two is 2A. Take 32A/30A * 5.8 kW ~= 6.2 kW (This is just a crude ratio, but you...

    Anything goes

I definitely agree with this. I have to tell the GPS, every time I use it for range estimation with waypoints for my daily travels, that I don't want to take the interstate to go to work. I don't want to tell it to always avoid because I will use it to get to certain destinations, just not my...

    Anything goes

Michael, My idea on the dual J1772 ports is for if you were road tripping and came upon a charging location with two 30 amp charging stations, you could get 60 amps if you had two discrete onboard chargers that could have independent AC inputs.

    Anything goes

As I'm driving home today, I thought to myself, what would be the idea specs of this car? If you could make the FFE have any specs, what would they be? It has to be in the confines of the current car, but any spec goes. Here is my dream spec list: 1. Charging a. 20 kW J1772 charging...

    Ford IDS Data

I haven't confirmed this via IDS, but the service manual does state that the battery coolant loop will start being passed through the chiller at 95F. Now, it doesn't state when it would start passing through the radiator, so I still need to figure that out (presumably a lower temperature). I'll...

Loud noise when using Go Times or AirCon while plugged in

Also, there is a SSM on the subject: "SSM 32308 - 2012-2013 C-Max/Focus/Fusion/MKZ Hybrid - Plug In Hybrid - Battery Electric Vehicles - A/C Compressor Noise - Low Refrigerant Charge Some 2012-2013 C-Max/Focus/Fusion/MKZ Hybrid/Plug In Hybrid and Battery Electric vehicles may exhibit excessive...

Loud noise when using Go Times or AirCon while plugged in

By AirCon do you mean the compressor? Also, just be aware, that there are three separate pumps for three separate coolant loops.

    Remote start kWh used

Correct, the trip meter will not record the kWh used during remote start or go time start. On a side note, if you charge with the car "on", the trip meter will tick back the kWh to zero.
