I know most are more knowledgeable on EV's but has anyone added a DC fast charge port to the J1772 plug in a 2012-2014 FFE? I would like the capability to charge faster while on the road.

Sefs and I have run CHAdeMO on our 2012s, but it's more than just adding the port. I have a CCS port and an EVCC module from a later model, but I have not had time to try and install it to see if it works without further modification.

While it’s not a plug-and-play mod, there might be some hope with aftermarket solutions. Companies like EVTV have been experimenting with retrofitting fast-charging capabilities into older models. It’s worth checking if they’ve done anything with FFEs. Just keep in mind that your car’s battery might need upgrading to safely handle faster charging rates. It’d be a cool mod if you can pull it off, though!

Fast charging has negotiation from both ends - you negotiate a rate appropriate for your pack. If you're going to hack in DC and replace the battery instead of setting an acceptable charge rate, you may as well track down a 2017.
