The Seattle Green festival happened this weekend, and wraps up today. The show featured keynotes from experts in the Green community and all sorts of demonstrations and booths from making your house more green, to buying more green, and even some electric vehicle talk from Ford.

Ford is a major corporate sponsor of the Green Festivals (visit the site to see if it hits your city this year: http://www.greenfestivals.org/greening-the-festival/). They kicked off the Seattle festival by showcasing their Transit Connect Electric Vehicle.

The all-electric commercial van is designed for florists, house cleaners, and any other companies that make lots of quick deliveries in a region. Seattle is on the list of Cities that will be first to receive the Ford Focus Electric vehicle when it becomes available later this year.

Ford has these sustainability facts listed on the Green Festival website:

* Ford will be expanding it's vehicle line to include 5 electric vehicles by 2012 including next generation hybrids, a plug in hybrid and the full Electric Ford Focus.
* The Ford EcoBoost engine technology delivers 20% better fuel economy and 15% fewer CO2 emissions.
* Ford’s sustainable materials strategy is to use recycled or renewable materials in their vehicles.
* Almost 85% (by weight) of materials used in Ford's vehicles are recyclable.
* Ford Hybrid vehicles use a high voltage Nickel Metal Hydride battery to help deliver up to 50% increase in fuel economy over their non-hybrid counterparts.
* Ford is working on a plug-in hybrid vehicle that will provide maximum fuel efficiency by paring an electric motor and battery with a gasoline powered engine. This allows the gasoline engine to not need to run all the time which will significantly increasing gas mileage.
