Anyone have any luck/experience using Siri Eyes-Free yet with this new update?

Note that you can go to syncmyride.com or owner.ford.com and check for a sync update for this version (when I did for my car it showed that I have an update available--now I have to find a thumbdrive for it! LOL).

Yes, it worked fine for me - long steering wheel control press prompted siri and responded thru car's speakers. Unfortunately my cell phone is an Android and GoogleNow does not function the same. Test was done connecting Ipad Air while still on home's WIFI since I don't have any iPhones in my household.

my update took 20 minutes to install. I did have to load my custom wallpapers again after the update. Phone bluetooth settings needed to be reconfigured as well.

Yeah update took 20-25 minutes: Just plugged the car in, turned it on, and plugged in the USB stick. I think there was one prompt then I walked away (nice having an electric car: I can leave the garage door closed while the car is "on" :) ).

Will have to pair my iPad and try the Siri thing....

Is there any features or bug fixes included in this new Sync update that would make it worth the upgrade with an android smartphone?

campfamily: probably not: If the radio can see your phone plugged into either port then either port would work to upgrade.

NightHawk: There is a new navigation mute button and there is a fix to bluetooth where it will retry more if it loses the bluetooth connection. Also included is easier destination entry for China! (http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/18967-new-sync-version-gen2-v38)

This is pretty cool: I don't have an iPhone anymore so I also had to use my iPad to test out the Siri feature while I played teenager chauffeur this evening. Simply press and hold the sync button until you hear the Siri beep.

This update kind of shows you how well Ford did some stuff: We get a new feature for our 3+ year old cars (in some cases) simply by downloading new software and updating the car ourselves. Sure it isn't Tesla over-the-air transparent, but still we can do the update ourselves without having to make time to visit a dealer.

Does it matter which USB port I plug into to do this update? The one in the console or the one on the dash?
Use the one labeled "Software Update", located under the driver's seat.

Just kidding, it should not matter which port you use. Earlier models of FFE only had (two) USB ports in the console. Later models moved one out to the dash.

My update went smoothly.

The update process seemed to initially "reboot", install some stuff, go through another "reboot", install some more stuff, and then is done.

I too lost a couple minor settings, and had to pair my phone again.

Fwiw, the instructions at syncmyride.com said to use a USB drive with 2GB of storage. I used one with only 1GB of space, and it worked fine.

They STILL haven't fixed how the entertainment status can display incorrectly when adjusting volume and changing tracks at the same time (the volume indicator and track name appear at the same time, on top of each other, all jumbled up). I know, totally minor, but it's such a silly display bug that has been there forever.

Just did the update this morning. Easy peasy.
