Check out the Rav4 EV thread; reading through this one is eerily similar to ours... In addition, the Rav4 has Tesla hardware!

Add the ford escape hybrid to the list..exactly the same scenarios we have had (280+ posts of it)

http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/f26/stop-safely-now-11900/index29.html

I find it nearly laughable now when anyone from Ford tells me "this is the first I've heard of it" - as though they never heard of "the internet".

for example - the first message in the thread from 01-19-2007!!!!!<<<
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Anyone seen this message? I got it this morning in my own driveway and the car wouldn't respond to the next 2 or 3 start attempts, but on the next it was fine and it didn't recur. The triangular red warning light came on but the manual's pretty vague about what causes it.

It may have been that I did something a bit unusual: I started and backed the car out of the garage, but the kids weren't ready for school so I shut off the engine again after it had only run about 20 seconds. The message came when I tried to restart about 2 minutes later.

I had the car in the dealer today for another issue (see other thread) and the service guy had nothing to offer except that it's 'one of those hybrid things'."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you read through these posts, you'll discover that many of these people came out of pocket to figure out what was happening as this was past their warranty (one guy was told it was his radiator!? and should be replaced immediately)... How lucky I am this is happening to my BRAND NEW CAR at only 2.7K miles ;]

I've mentioned this before, with regard to the Escape Hybrid.

The bottom line is, any car can have an issue where it suddenly loses power and shuts down. I'm sure there are dozens of reasons why it might happen.

The problem with the FFE is that it's happening with low-mileage vehicles, frequently, and usually without any kind of diagnosis or repair possible. This suggests a software or mechanical defect. The fact that, in most cases, the software can't tell the dealer why it happened (and the car drives normally after being restarted) certainly points to a software defect unique to the FFE.
