CA rebate problem

Someone buy/lease the car, but finance/lease got cancelled due to whatever reason. Dealer has to take it back and sell it as a "used" car. The car never leaves dealer's lot, but it is a "used" car.

My car is a rollback/unwind car.

What does that mean?

That's unfortunate... but at least explains what happened. "Nice" of the dealer to clearly disclose that to you before the sale so you'd be aware that you might have some trouble claiming your rebate. (Did you mention this when you checked back with them? Did they admit they knew? Did they apologize?)

In any case, perhaps you can check with CVRP and see if they can verify whether or not the rebate has been claimed for your vehicle. And, if not, perhaps they will be willing to make an exception (since I don't think they really care so much that the vehicle is technically "new", but more that it has only had one owner and only one rebate was handed out).
