Ford Focus Electric 2013 - no heating no answers

Hello everyone!



I bought a 2013 Ford Focus Electric 2 months ago because I wanted to get to know electric mobility.

Private and warranty excluded...

Now the heating has gone, but the ventilation still works normally.

First to the ÖAMTC, then to the Ford workshop and both say they have no idea. The car is so rare that nobody in either workshop has a clue and the error memory spits out errors that are not possible or cannot be read out.

Well....

Does anyone have the car and any idea what this could be or perhaps have had it before?

Ford Austria is also on it but they don't know anything yet?

Was the motor or geardrive (transmission) ever replaced? I ask this since if it was done, the r134a coolant for the AC may have not been recharged. I had this same issue after I swapped the blown transmission/motor assembly in my old 2012 FFE. You'll need some sort of refrigerant recharging kit. Amazon sells these, and you can watch a ChrisFixIt video on how to recharge the system....or take it to a shop, and have them recharge your AC system.

These use a resistive heater, not a heat pump. As you look under the hood, the electrical connections are on the rear left. The heater runs off the HVDC bus. There is a 40A HVDC fuse inside the TCM - the top of the motor where the main plug from the battery is connected. My guess is it's either a low voltage fuse/relay or that HVDC fuse under the TCM cover. The cabin heater coolant pump or diverter valve malfunctioning would also keep heat from working, but you would still see the range change when toggling the heat on.

It would be a good idea to look at all the wiring to make sure none is damaged. Past that, it's possible the heater element itself has failed.
